Ayanna N. Woodberry, PhD, MS, MPH

Biologist & Public Health Researcher

Dr. Ayanna Woodberry holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Union University, a Master of Public Health from University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control through the University of the District of Columbia–Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center program, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology from Howard University.

For more than 15 years, Dr. Woodberry has worked and volunteered with nonprofit organizations dedicated to strengthening vulnerable and at-risk communities. She also completed 2.5 years of service through AmeriCorps VISTA and AmeriCorps State and National, federal service programs focused on reducing poverty and addressing critical community needs. During this time, her passion for addressing health disparities in minority communities continued to grow.

Currently, Dr. Woodberry serves as the Co-Founder and Lead Consultant of Woodberry Strategic Solutions Global Consulting, Inc. and as the Director of Health and Education Initiatives at New Alpha Community Development Corporation, where she oversees programs focused on health promotion, education, and community empowerment. She is also a Certified Global Health Educator and a Certified Climate for Health Ambassador.

 

In addition, Dr. Woodberry serves as Chairperson of the Whitney M. Slater Foundation and as a member of the Board of Directors for Light of Africa, Inc.. In January 2021, she founded the “Moving From Surviving to Thriving” Public Health Initiative, which is dedicated to addressing health disparities in minority communities across the United States and abroad.

 

Dr. Woodberry previously served on the Associate Board of Neema International, where she also chaired the Fundraising Committee. In addition, she was selected as a 2020–2021 Cancer Research Education Program (C-REP) Scholar through the Howard-Georgetown Collaborative Partnership in Cancer Research.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Woodberry has contributed to a wide range of impactful projects that have allowed her to grow as a researcher, educator, and public health professional.
